How to buy a Guitar? Which is the right Guitar for you?
Guitars for the Beginner - things to consider - pros and cons
A "classical guitar" has nylon strings and is easier for the beginner to press down the strings. However, the neck is wider so smaller hands might have a challenge. The sound of nylon strings is softer than the regular "acoustic guitar".
Usually called an "acoustic" or "folk" guitar - the "acoustic guitar" has steel strings that are a little more difficult for beginning fingers to press down. But on the other hand the neck is more narrow. The fingers will work a little harder at first and will eventually develop calluses, which in the long run is a good thing. The steel string guitar is brighter in sound and is generally what you hear in most pop or country songs.
Whether you are looking for your first guitar or just a better guitar than what you have, there are several stores in the area to find the instrument that is right for you. I would be glad to recommend an instrument and a good store to you. Email me if you have any questions. I love to talk about guitars and basses!
